According to cpr news, "If an investigation reveals that an officer tampered with or failed to activate their dashboard or body camera, the officer is subject to disciplinary action, including suspension, termination or revoking of the officer's certification."
the city of Los Angeles had a four year decline issn fatal shootings in 2019 according to the Los Angeles times. The officers of the LAPD claim that this is due to the training in de-escalation tactics.
Other cities such as Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Phoenix have had similar positive changes. "The changes often revolve around training officers to de-escalate situations and reduce the amount of force they use" according to the New York Times.
due to the lack of feredal regulations, it is up to each state to decide what is best for its police academies. Certain states have proven that they at least understand that work needs to be done.
